RICH JOHNSON'S
GUIDE
TO
TRAILER BOAT SAILING
A trailerable sailboat is the ideal way
to explore the country — wherever there
is water. To make the most of this
exciting lifestyle, owners of
trailerable sailboats need three things
— an understanding of the boat and how
to use it; knowledge about the tow
vehicle and trailer used to transport
the boat; and a spirited sense of
adventure to live the dream.
This book
will help you get started.
About Rich Johnson...
After
enjoying a long career as writer and editor
on the staff of major publishing companies,
Rich moved to the sailing paradise of the
Pacific Northwest. He and Becky own a
26-foot trailerable sailboat and have sailed
extensively in locations ranging from the
exotic lakes of the desert southwest, to the
pristine waters of high Rocky Mountain
lakes, to the verdant islands of the Pacific
Northwest.
As a member of the U.S. Coast Guard
Auxiliary, Rich served for many years as an
Instructor teaching courses in Boating
Safety, Advanced Coastal Navigation,
Seamanship, Communications, and Weather.
Adding depth to his nautical experience,
Rich has crewed for post-season delivery of
commercial fishing vessels, piloting them
down the Inside Passage from the wilds of
Alaska to the west coast boating Mecca of
Seattle.
Over the years, Rich has introduced many
friends to the adventure of cruising aboard
a trailerable sailboat. He
also enjoys scuba diving, fishing, camping,
rock climbing, kayaking, golf, backcountry
skiing and just about anything else that can
be done outdoors. He has more than 30
parachute jumps to his credit, has rappelled
from helicopters, and holds a Frequent
Faller card as a bungee jumper. He is the
author of Rich Johnson's Guide to Wilderness
Survival.
As often as possible, Rich and Becky can be
found with the mainsail and jib full of
wind, and the bow pointed toward a distant
destination.
